As of late...

We had a great Father's Day at our house.  This picture pretty much sums it up.  Everyone was happy, we all enjoyed spending time with our Daddy, and he felt pampered! :)

And today, C got a package in the mail from G&G!  She was so excited to open it and even more excited to play with her new lantern!  She's been carrying it around with her all day!  Thank you G&G!!

Reading with Friends

I was lucky enough to have my camera near by when I noticed Cadence reading to her friends.  She had them all set up to listen!

So I Saw My OB Yesterday...

I've been telling myself I didn't care what gender baby #2 would be, and in reality, either would be great. But deep down I had a preference... and it looks like we're getting exactly what everyone was hoping for! Cadence expressed interest in a baby sister, Derek was sure that he would have all girls, and I'm slightly terrified of parenting a boy, lol!

"The Wheels on the Bus"

Cadence has become quite the singer lately.  She is often singing songs she's learned in Primary, from us, the TV, and the YMCA.  The best part?  She makes up her own lyrics!  She takes after her Grandpa Bruce!

One of her favorite songs to embellish is, "The Wheels on the Bus."  She knows quite a few of the verses and makes up several of her own.  This morning it was, "The glasses on the bus go wear it!  Wear it! Wear it!  The glasses on the bus go wear it all through the town!"  It cracked me up!

Today in Our Lives

We woke up this morning to a thick frost!  It was beautiful!

I came back into the living room and found a magazine train.  Cadence opens ALL of her Highlights magazines to the hidden pictures pages.  They're her favorite.  When she saw this picture up on the computer she said, "Look!  I'm indivisible!" LOL!

"Oop!  Indivisible!" -Cadence

"Oop!  Not indivisible!" -Cadence

After her nap she helped me put away clean clothes--meaning she picked up the socks I dropped as I carried the very full basket into my closet.  While she was in our closet, she found her old swimsuit.  She gasped, grabbed it, and then exclaimed, "OH!  MY SWIMPOOP!  IT'S MY FAVORITE!"  I had to laugh.  Ever since the first time we went swimming with her at the Y, she's called swimsuits, swimpoops.  I don't think there are any hidden meanings! :)

PS:  We are still LOVING the new clothes Aunt Kim!! :)

Halloween Week

Here's what we've been doing lately...

Learning how to make "silly faces!"

The corn maze and a hay ride with a REAL TRACTOR just like Shaun the Sheep at Linder Farms!

And trunk-or-treating as Rapunzel and Eugene Fitzherbert!

Halloween Time

When I took these pictures, I didn't realize that my ISO was at 6400.  If you're not familiar with ISO, 6400 is TERRIBLE!!!  So I had to make it a sepia toned B&W which bummed me out because I really liked the orange of the pumpkins.

Anyway, this is a picture of Cadence with her Halloween card from my Aunt Laura and Uncle Bob.  They are awesome and Cadence LOVES them.  Thank you for the card guys!!

And there will be more Halloween pictures up here tomorrow.  Get ready for the awesomeness.  Cadence and Derek are coordinating this year! :)

Moose-Puppy

Cadence and I went to the music store yesterday, which is always a little bit of a challenge because Cadence is 3 and music stores are full of things to touch and grab.  So we had a little talk before we went in.  This is how it went...

Me: Cadence, guess what!  We're going to the music store!  Do you remember the music store?  It has pianos, violins, cellos...

Cadence:  What come next?... guitars, ...and, um... GRUMSTICKS!

Me: Yes!  Guitars, drumsticks and drums, and lots of other things!  What do you think?  Should we go?

Cadence: Yes! That sounds GREAT Mommy!

Me:  Okay!  But remember, don't touch anything.

And then later in the store by the piano books...

Cadence:  What that Mommy?  A moose-puppy?

Me:  A moose-puppy?  What are you looking at?

Cadence: This (points to a Christmas music book with a Santa Mickey Mouse and Pluto decked out in antlers and a red nose)!

Me:  Oh, that's Pluto dressed up as a reindeer, Rudolph.

Cadence:  No, it's a moose-puppy.

"I Be Three!"

I can't believe that my baby is three!

On the morning of her birthday.  Thank you G&G Mc for the beautiful new doll!

I gave her a haircut the next morning.  So grown up!

I Can Have Blog Post Please?

Latest Cadence-isms
  •  "I can have milk please?" We're working on asking for things rather than just communicating her general want for something... usually milk.
  • "I can't like it."  We think she means, "I don't like it," but it always comes out "can't?"  Anyway, it's pretty descriptive of how she feels.
  • "My do Woody puzzle?"  She received a set of wooden jigsaw puzzles for Christmas last year from her grandpa.  It's taken quite a while for her to figure them out (they're real jigsaw puzzles, and every piece fits with every other piece) but now that she has for the most part, she is loving them!  Especially the ones with Buzz and Woody or Lightning McQueen.
  • "Please," "thank you," "you're welcome," "bless you," "are you okay?"  My kid is pretty darn polite, annoyingly so.  I'm a little surprised at it because I'm sure that I'm no where near that polite!
  • "What you're doing, Mom (or Dad)?"  I hear this question seventy-hundred times a day!
  • "My do it!"  Usually when we're getting out of the car.  She's even started saying it before we've turned the car off.  I guess she wants to make sure I know she's going to get out on her own!
  • "Gickle me?" She's ALWAYS asking to be tickled!  The other day at church after Derek and I had both declined, she turned to the lady sitting down the row from us (who she barely knew), and asked her!  We had to laugh a little!
Cadence doing one of her favorite puzzles.
And see that stack of puzzles in the lower left-hand corner?
Yeah, there are 8 puzzles in the pack and she likes to do ALL of them every time! :)

Cooties is the Name of the Game!

Lately, Cadence has been LOVING the game Cooties!  She asks to play it nearly every day, and she's catching on really well!  She loves to roll the die and match it to the pictures of the dice on the board.

The picture in the middle is my FAVORITE!  I asked her to lay down next to her cooties so I could take a picture.  That was what I got! :)

Yes, she does have a band-aid on her face. She scratched it the other day and wouldn't leave it alone.  It was bleeding every time I turned around, and surprisingly she was just fine with having the band-aid on her face, partially covering her mouth!

Mommy-Daughter Date

Cadence had a doctors appointment in "the big city," so the two of us made a day out of it!

Our first stop was the camera shop to go window shopping and we tested out a new lens.  Unfortunately we couldn't take it home with us!

Then we stopped to have a fun McDonalds lunch!  Cadence was so excited to have her very own "little hamburger!"

After lunch was her doctors appointment which she didn't enjoy as much.  We just switched to a new ENT.  She had a slightly traumatic experience with an ear vacuum at the last one.  This doc was MUCH better, but she wasn't won over quite yet.

And we ended the day with some silly piano playing!  She loves to flip through my piano books and pretend to play.

I love how she stuffs her hand in her mouth when she's giggly and delighted!

Pioneer Day Celebration

Our stake had their annual Pioneer Day Celebration today.  It was wonderful!  The three of us had so much fun enjoying the different displays, activities, and friends we saw there!  I had the opportunity to help with the set up early this morning (6:45am!  I couldn't believe I actually made it on time!!).  It was great to be a part of the event and I made sure to point out to Derek all the signs that I hung up! :)

Cadence doing one of the things she does best... telling us what to do!  "Let's look at that Dad!"

I figured she'd be thrilled to pieces about the sheep.  After all, she asks
to watch Shaun the Sheep every 5 minutes from the moment she wakes up
until the moment she falls asleep.  But no, she liked them from a distance
but was completely freaked out once she tried to touch them!

Best part of the morning?  Ice cream cones!!  Perfect for a hot day!

Oldies but Goodies

So I was looking through my pictures this evening and realized that I haven't edited or posted that many pictures of my own child lately.  And then I realized that I haven't posted much of anything lately!  So here's the long overdue post.  The pictures are a couple months old but hey, a great picture is timeless... right? :)

This picture cracks me up every time I look at it!  I couldn't choose just one so you all get to enjoy both! :)   Since the weather has warmed up a bit, we've enjoyed going to the park with friends.

This girl is serious about her Wii time!  A couple months ago we enjoyed having a favorite aunt, uncle and cousins come to visit us.  Mario Party and Mario Kart were favorites all around!  And don't you just love the ringlets?  She slept all night with little buns all over her head so she could have the fun springy hair.  What we ladies do for beauty!

Cadence or Mommy?

On Sunday, Cadence and I got into our first argument over who was in a picture, Cadence or Mommy.
In her defense, it was over this picture...

Cadence was actually getting quite upset with me for insisting that it was actually me in the photo, not her! :)

Why yes...

...that is a "cycicle" on my shirt! :)

Lately Cadence has been loving bicycles.  She's seen them parked at the YMCA on our way to the front doors for quite a while, but since she watched a Timmy Time in which Timmy learns how to ride a tricycle, she's been hooked!  She picked out the cutest helmet and has a cute red tricycle that she inherited from her Great Grandma and Grandpa VanDeburg. She wants to ride it ALL THE TIME!! :)  Good thing warmer weather is coming soon!!

Cute things as of late...

Cadence has taken to giving piggy-back rides... especially to her bear blanket.  She says, "piggy-gack!" over and over until we notice and give the correct amount of positive response. :)  She's also in love with headbands, "heb-bab," and flower clips. Boys are "ham-pum" and girls are "pitty."
